President Sheikh Mohamed on Monday received Hristijan Mickoski, Prime Minister of North Macedonia, who is on a working visit to the Emirates.

During the meeting at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi the two sides discussed expanding co-operation, particularly in the economic, investment, development, renewable energy and sustainability sectors, as well as infrastructure and tourism, the state news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Mohamed said the UAE is keen to strengthen its partnerships with Balkan countries and support everything that achieves peace and stability in the region. Mr Mickoski conveyed the greetings of Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, President of North Macedonia, with Sheikh Mohamed also wishing her well.

The two men also witnessed the announcement of two agreements; the first on economic co-operation between the two countries, and the second between the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia.

It follows a similar meeting in 2023, when Sheikh Mohamed met the former President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Court for Development Affairs and Martyrs' Families.
