With the Dubai Marathon taking place on Sunday, significant road closures can be expected to ensure the safety of both runners and spectators. Key roads such as King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street and sections of Umm Suqeim Street are likely to be affected. However, details from the Roads and Transport Authority have yet to be confirmed. Closures are likely to be in place from 6am on Sunday the official start time for the “elite” group of runners. General entry runners will set off at 7am, while a 10km road race starts at 8.15am and a 4km fun run at 10.30am. Dubai residents can expect disruption to have eased by midday but this has yet to be confirmed by the authority. However, in anticipation, the Dubai Metro will operate from 5am, instead of 8am, on Sunday. Runners will set off near Madinat Jumeirah and head towards Palm Jumeirah, where they will turn back on themselves shortly after reaching the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Hotel. They will then head along Al Sufouh, past the Jumeirah Beach Hotel before turning back in the direction of Madinat Jumeirah. They will run this loop twice, before reaching the finish line just before Dubai Police Academy.
