"On International Youth Day, we celebrate the important role of youth in shaping a better future for our nation and world," Sheikh Mohamed wrote on X. "Through their ambition and determination, youth are essential in accelerating progress towards a more sustainable and prosperous future for all, and the UAE is committed to investing in youth and empowering them to transform our nation’s growth." Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, posted an uplifting message on social media to mark the annual occasion. He said young people drove progress and that their efforts helped the nation to rise and supported the advancement of humankind. Sheikh Mohammed shared an inspirational video with the post on X that outlined the accomplishments of young Emiratis. The UAE leadership wants young people to help fuel the country's development in a rapidly evolving global landscape. The UAE has sought to lay down firm foundations for the leaders of tomorrow by investing in education and promoting careers of the future in sectors such as coding and artificial intelligence. The country also has a ministerial position in its cabinet dedicated to championing young people. Emirati astronaut Dr Sultan Al Neyadi, who last year completed a historic six-month mission on the International Space Station, was named Minister of State for Youth Affairs in January. The UAE views its young people as "sustainable wealth" that can be instrumental in continued national progress, he told state news agency Wam in an interview to mark International Youth Day. Dr Al Neyadi spoke of the country's wider ambitions under the National Youth Agenda 2031, which aims to elevate the contribution of young people to the country's economic and social goals. He reflected on the agenda's blueprint for the future, which includes ensuring young people drive positive change and are at the heart of their communities. Dr Al Neyadi said embracing the digital revolution, AI and modern sciences would be crucial for future generations to have an impact. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed, chairman of the Arab Youth Centre, urged young people to ensure they developed the knowledge and expertise to meet their aspirations and the expectations of the country. Sheikh Theyab said the development of societies was powered by the energy of its youth.
