Mr Alkhudr, 42, a woodcarver and artist from Aleppo, northern Syria, fled the war in his home country and arrived in Cologne in 2015. In 2019, he started to carve a model of the city's cathedral in his basement.
He produced the work without any plans or drawings, using only mobile phone photos of the cathedral as a template.
Mr Alkhudr admires the full-size Cologne Cathedral. Work began on the Gothic masterpiece in 1248, and its towers are more than 157 metres high.
