The kingdom's Vision 2030 initiative includes goals to help tackle obesity and diabetes.

Some restaurants in the kingdom offer healthy alternatives to some traditional dishes.

In 2019, the Saudi Health Ministry issued an order for restaurants to include calorie information on menus to encourage healthy eating.

A growing number of restaurants in Saudi Arabia offer customers the option to sign up to healthy meal plans, with dishes sent to their homes and offices.

Efforts to promote healthy eating at restaurants have been supported by in the introduction of health-focused events including the Riyadh Marathon.
