Severe drought has made the village visible to the naked eye again

The village was abandoned 36 years ago and submerged after the construction of Dohuk Dam.

It has partly resurfaced after a large drop in water levels at Dohuk Dam.

The drop in water levels has been caused by a long and severe drought in the region.

The dam is located near the northern Iraqi city of Dohuk.

The city is in the autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq.
