The annual event aims to preserve rich heritage of Tunisian costume and handicrafts

Dressed in traditional outfits, those taking part march along main Tunis thoroughfares, such as Avenue Habib Bourgiba.

The event aims to help preserve the traditional heritage of Tunisia, while having fun.

It is marked by a carnival atmosphere, with music and national flags complementing the colourful costumes

Men in traditional attire mark the event. The Tunisian jebba robe, made of flax, silk or wool, is worn with a vest, baggy trousers and the chechia traditional round hat.

Tunisians celebrate their heritage. For the event, women often wear the fouta and blouza. Made of cotton or silk, these are inspired by wedding dresses of the past.

The country's rich garment heritage includes influences from other cultures, including Andalusia in southern Spain and Turkey.
