Abu Dhabi’s landmarks lit up on Wednesday evening with a message for the capital – “Together We Are Good”. The joint display was part of the Authority of Social Contribution, Ma’an's programme, which was launched earlier this week to raise funds to help with the ongoing health crisis brought about by the Covid-19 outbreak. The message, along with the number to call to help, was shared on the Galleria Mall on Al Maryah Island, the Andaz Capital Gate building and the Adnoc headquarters on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche. The campaign was launched on Monday, and has already raised more than Dh45 million through contributions from individuals and businesses within the first 24 hours. As well as cash, more than 1,000 meals have been donated, 42 in-kind donations have been received including apartment buildings, hotel rooms, villas and furniture. More than 200 people have signed up to volunteer their time and expertise including doctors, retired military personnel and various other specialties. “It is incredible to see so many people and businesses unite together and show their support by contributing to the ‘Together We Are Good’ programme,” said Salama Al Ameemi, director general of Ma’an. “In just 24 hours, the contributions we have received whether it’s financial or not, speaks volumes for the generosity of our community. It is evidence that Abu Dhabi, and the UAE, is a hugely philanthropic society with everyone ready to step up and do what they can to help the country through this period. “I encourage everyone who wishes to contribute to get in contact. By taking small steps, we can all help make a big difference.” To find out more about how to contribute, call 8005-MAAN or send a WhatsApp message on 0543055366.
