For those women across the UAE who battle to find activewear that suits their modest needs, there’s a new range out of the United States that may be of interest.
Veil, the brainchild of 23-year-old Cleveland-based business graduate Ahmad Ghanem and his team of entrepreneurs, is described as modest sportswear that’s both functional and stylish. The start-up’s range includes a ‘spark’ half-zip and the ‘halo’ running hoodie, which retail from $72 (Dh264 including postage). They also sell hijabs for $22 (Dh80, postage additional).
“We really wanted to make a difference for the active women who have trouble finding clothing to fit their preference,” says Ghanem, who spent the best part of the last year raising funds and developing the womenswear line. “There are women all over the world who just because they choose to cover up, whether it’s for religious reasons or personal preference, may feel left out [of the market]. We’re there to let them know we’ve got their back, and we’re here to not only provide them with the clothing they need, but to also push them to achieve their dreams.”
The Veil garments are available in a range of sizes and colours and can be pre-ordered at www.veilgarments.com. Due to limited stock however, only those orders made before July 31 are ensured swift delivery.
