While many small businesses have been among the hardest hit during the coronavirus pandemic, one beauty salon in Dubai is aiming to give back to a community that has given so much to it over the years. That Hair Tho, located in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, is offering free haircuts, washes and blow-dries to women who have either lost their jobs during the pandemic, have job interviews lined up or are leaving the country owing to current circumstances. The goodwill initiative aims to boost confidence and will run throughout September and October. The offer will be available to three women each day, and to book, a client will need to present some evidence of their current situation. “The free cut initiative is a way for us at That Hair Tho to give back to the community. With the current situation, a lot of people are losing their jobs and we wanted people to look and feel their best during these difficult times, giving a positive vibe and energy to those who need it right now,” says salon manager Lucinda Gill. This isn't the first time the salon has imparted a kind gesture. It has also offered free haircuts for nannies. “Our ethics are always strongly focused on giving back. Last year when we did the free cuts for nannies initiative, we had an amazing response and allocated 144 appointments over the course of two months,” says Gill. “The team at THT gets so much joy from making our lovely clients feel special, pampered and rejuvenated especially during this difficult period.” The salon opened in 2015. Its co-founder, Kate Darling, wanted to "create a safe space for women where they can express themselves freely". It also uses vegan, sustainable and gluten-free products. <em>THT is located in Cluster N, Jumeirah Lake Towers, The Dome Building, Basement Level, B04.
