Buggy-based fitness is fast catching on in cities around the world. And now Dubai will host its first Buggy Run at the Dubai Autodrome in Motor City on Saturday, February 11.
The premise is simple, the advantages numerous: come together and hit the open road with your babies and strollers, and walk, jog, sprint or skip to the finish line. Not only can you take advantage of the benefits of exercising outdoors, but you can also save the money you might normally spend at a gym or a crèche.
The Buggy Run is an untimed “race”, where you can choose from a 2.5km or 5km track, and is open to people of all ages and fitness levels. The event is the brainchild of fitness enthusiasts Nicola Holmes and Lara Sweida-Metwally, who believe that “working out as a family is a socially inclusive and fun experience, which educates children on the importance of health and fitness from a young age”. It is also a great way to bring the focus back on the health and wellness of new parents, or even grandparents, older siblings or aunts and uncles.
Buggy Run Dubai includes post-race entertainment as well as prizes from Mountain Buggy, Urban Energy and the Autodrome. Urban Energy Fitness will offer Buggy Run training sessions in the days leading up to the run.
Registration is now open at www.thebuggyrun.com. Prices start at Dh150 for a single buggy and single runner, and Dh245 for a single buggy and two runners.
