Temperatures may have exceeded 40°C in Dubai this weekend, but dozens of people got all wrapped up to take part in the emirate’s first ever snow run. Taking place at Ski Dubai as part of DXB Snow Week, the DXB Snow Run called upon participants to race through snow and ice along a three-kilometre course. The first-of-its-kind event took place on Friday, August 14, with runners racing in temperatures of -4°C inside the Mall of the Emirates attraction. Participants were given commemorative medals that honour the heroes at the frontline of Dubai's battle against Covid-19, paying homage to the service of Dubai Police and Dubai Civil Defence, as well as the staff of Dubai Health Authority, and the first responders of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services. Across the weekend, there were also a number of ski and snowboard competitions at Ski Dubai as part of Dubai Sports Council’s (DSC) Ice Sports Week. Scroll through the gallery above to see pictures from the first DXB Snow Run.
