When ClassPass first announced it was coming to Dubai, the membership-based fitness company promised it would partner with at least a hundred gyms and fitness studios across the city, and offer as wide a range of exercise sessions as possible. The app, which launched on October 16, in fact gives members access to 130 locations and dozens of types of workouts - from high-intensity interval training, spinning and barre to yoga, Pilates, boxing, and even dance classes and watersports. Spin fans can access both Flywheel (Gold and Diamond Park and Burj Views) and Cycle Bar (City Walk). The Platform in Dubai Marina offers about 190 classes a week, from HIIT, spinning, Pilates and yoga, to barre and boxing. Barre classes are also available at Physique 57 (City Walk and Al Thanya Mall), while a bout of boxing can be had at Round 10 in Al Quoz or Jumeirah Islands. Hot-yoga seekers can head to Dryp (Marina Promenade), while those who want to cool down can check out Hydro Water Sports (JBR Beach), which offers flyboard, jetpack, jetovator, hoverboard and parasailing sessions; and / or WaterCooled Watersports (Jebel Ali), which combines watersports, such as distant paddling and stand-up paddleboarding with HIIT, yoga and circuit training. The dance studios ClassPass has teamed up with include Balle-T Body (JLT), led by choreographer, ballet teacher, and fitness instructor Tatiana Matrosova; Ric Banks Dance and Fitness Academy (Al Barsha), known for its upbeat Afrobeat class, as well as salsa, bachata, kizomba, hip-hop and swing sessions; and CoreClubPro & Method MVT (opening next week in Business Bay), among others. Some of other newest studios that have come on board include the city's first Stretch Studio in Times Square and PowerCycle (JLT). Business Bay and its surrounds seem to have the most number of studios (A-Tone Fitness Lounge, GFX, Bare, Urban Yoga, Universal Fitness; The Vault; Kintsugi Yoga; Goldbox Fitness; Dhyana Yoga and Pilates Studio), while other locations include: Al Barari: Body Language Al Barsha: Sharmila Dance, Pure Pilates; MeFitPro; Bikram Yoga Middle East Al Karama: Energym Dubai Al Quoz: CrossFit Alioth, Bounce Middle East; Bespoke Ride, Crank Al Wasl Road: The Studio Yoga & Fitness, Transform Altitude Bur Dubai: Step N Groove Dance Studio, Quantum) D3: Warehouse Gym Downtown and DIFC: Zoga Yoga Cafe, Yoga Retreats, D5, Cadence Theory, 20' Fit EMS Drift Beach: Super SUP Fit Dubai Marina: Trident Wellness Centre, TribeFit Emirates Towers: Pranayama Yoga Center Garhoud: Guru Gym Gold & Diamond Park: RoshiRoss Fitness Studio JLT: Snap Fitness UAE, Milan Pole Dance Studio Dubai Jumeirah Beach Road: Surf House Dubai Jumeirah: Reform Athletica, The Hundred Wellness Centre, My30Minutes, Life'n One Mazaya Centre: Fitness 360 UAE Meadows: Fit Boys Boxing Club Media City: TK MMA Fitness, Mojo Reformer Pilates Mirdif: Sol Pilates MotorCity: Pole Angels Dubai, Naya Yoga and Pilates Palm Jumeirah: Yoga La Vie, the gym and aqua-spin lessons at Fairmont gym Silicon Oasis: Fitness Together Sports City: Lotus Holistic Yoga Center The Greens: Yoga House, Vibe Fitness DXB Of course, the whole point of ventures such as these is to get out of your comfort zone, literally, and access as many types of classes as possible. CEO Fritz Lanman is pleased that the launch coincides almost perfectly with the second annual Dubai Fitness Challenge, not to mention the rapidly cooling weather that makes working-out seem less of a chore. "I am convinced we are arriving in Dubai at exactly the right time. The city is home to a diverse array of studios that are amplifying a universal fitness culture. Adoption of fitness is on the increase across every demographic... and Dubai is ripe for ClassPass. The Dubai Fitness Challenge’s 30x30 initiative engages the entire population and it’s only natural that many of these residents will be eager to maintain versatility in their fitness routines after the Challenge ends – ClassPass fills this gap with unique credits-based functionality that assures our users of unrivalled choice,” says Lanman. The credits-based model allows members to use a certain number of their points each month, which they then use to book classes. Different classes carry different "rates", based on factors such as the session's timing and popularity, and the studio's location. Users can top-up credits if they exceed their monthly plan, or roll over credits to the next month if they have not used all of them. A few spots are left for a month-long trial period, while post-trial membership starts from Dh399 per month, which gets you 200 credits. ____________________ Read more: ____________________
