Unaccompanied children flying out of Dubai International Airport can now wait for their flights in their own private lounge. The new lounge for minors is open 24 hours at Terminal 1 at DXB. Conceptualised and provided by Dnata, an airport services provider in the emirate, it offers plenty to keep adventurers flying solo entertained. Designed in bright colours, the space is exclusively for the use of minors travelling alone or travelling in a separate cabin class from their parents. Inside the lounge, a specially trained team of multilingual staff are on hand to look after young flyers. Children can spend time before flights playing in the lounge where there are entertainment screens, arts and crafts activities and colourful airport-themed wall murals. Dnata also provides a team of staff dedicated to ensuring that kids travelling alone safely reach departure gates on time and receive priority boarding on flights, something that is designed to help parents have more peace of mind when booking solo travel for youngsters. Steve Allen from Dnata’s UAE airport operations team said: “We are delighted to add more value to our offering and further enhance young passengers’ travel experience by opening our new lounge, which has been specifically designed to meet the needs and taste of children of all ages. “Our friendly team will make sure young flyers spend a memorable time in our new lounge and have a smooth and safe passage through the airport,” he added. Customers that want to use the lounge for children travelling alone should contact the airline they are flying with for more information on the services available. Children flying unaccompanied from Terminal 3 can already make use of the Unaccompanied Minors Lounges by Emirates. Equipped with plenty of seating, games and entertainment screens, there are also complimentary snacks and drinks for children and smaller-sized bathroom facilities.
