Summer savings at UAE hotels

UAE hotels are rolling out large discounts and incentives to entice travellers to stay over the hot summer period. In Abu Dhabi, the Beach Rotana is offering rooms for Dh500 per night, with a Dh500 voucher to be spent in its restaurants or on room service, for every night stayed. The Dubai-based JA Resorts & Hotels is offering guests a 30 per cent discount, not including taxes, on stays of three nights or more at any of their three Dubai properties, or when booking five nights or more in the Maldives or Seychelles. Trips must be booked via www.jaresortshotels.com using the discount code "JA-SUM17".

The discount is available on bookings made by August 31, for stays until September 30. There are further discounts on food, drinks and spa treatments. Blackout dates apply.

Montreux Jazz makes it to Morocco

Travellers who want to enjoy jazz in an Arabic setting can attend the Montreux Jazz Festival Morocco in Marrakech, which takes place from June 30 to July 15. The festival, a spin-off of the annual festival in Geneva, is based at the Bahia Palace and will feature workshops, acoustic concerts and performances throughout the city. Meliá opens new hotel in China

Spanish hotel group Meliá has opened a new property in Shanghai. The Meliá Shanghai Hongqiao is located close to the National Exhibition & Convention Centre and is Meliá's third hotel in China. The modern property features 187 rooms, three villas, a large spa, an indoor swimming pool and a selection of restaurants. Rooms cost from 508 yuan (Dh272) per night, including taxes. New IHG hotel in Amsterdam

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, has opened its first property in Europe, the Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam. The luxury boutique hotel is a modern building built around a three-storey, 16th-century premises, and has 274 rooms, including nine suites.
