Como Hotels opening two Asian properties

The Singapore-based Como hotel group is opening two new resorts in Asia. Maalifushi by Como in the Maldives will open next month, and Point Yamu by Como in Phuket, Thailand, opened this week. The Maldives property is situated on the Thaa atoll in the south-west of the country. It has an opening offer of one night free with every three paid for, valid for stays between December 15 and February 28. The Phuket property is situated on Cape Yamu overlooking the Andaman Sea and Phang Nga Bay. One of the hotel's opening offers includes a restaurant credit of between 1,500 and 3,000 Thai baht (Dh175 and Dh350) per room per night. Rates start at 9,000 baht (Dh1,060) per night including breakfast (www.comohotels.com).

Enjoy nearby surfing at Hotel Escondido

The Mexican design hotel company Grupo Habita will open the Hotel Escondido on the coast in Oaxaca state next month. It will offer 16 beach bungalows with thatched roofs, wood floors and a private pool, on a scenic coast with good surfing. LA hotel to feature chef Roy Choi eateries

The Line Hotel on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles will open next month. The hotel occupies a mid-century industrial building in Koreatown and will feature two restaurants helmed by Korean BBQ chef Roy Choi doubles from $195 (Dh716) per night including taxes (www.thelinehotel.com).

Hong Kong claims biggest airport lounge

A new lounge has opened at Hong Kong airport that claims to be the world's largest. The Plaza Premium Lounge is on Level 7 of Terminal 1 and is open to all passengers for a fee: two hours cost US$50 (Dh184). It offers a complimentary bar, Wi-Fi, television, newspapers, and a restaurant serving tapas and local dishes. Sleep rooms, showers and spa treatments cost extra (www.plaza-network.com).
