Fly direct to Belgrade with Etihad Airways

UAE travellers can now get right to the heart of Europe with a new direct flight from Abu Dhabi to the Serbian capital, Belgrade. Thanks to a partnership with Jat Airways, Etihad this week launched a daily flight, which leaves Abu Dhabi at 8.30am and returns from Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport - named after the Serbian inventor - at 8.25pm. The flight is just five hours and 45 minutes outbound and five hours and 20 minutes on the return. Fares start at Dh2,385 return including taxes.

Enjoy real Egyptian street food in London

The current craze for modern Middle Eastern food in the British capital - Yotam Ottolenghi now has four restaurants and Yalla Yalla three - continues with the opening of Koshari Street, a "hole in the wall street food experience" from Lebanese food writer Anissa Helou. Backed by two Egyptian entrepreneurs, Salah Khalil and Karim Shousha, the restaurant is situated on St Martin's Lane near Leicester Square. It serves fresh, authentic Egyptian koshari - a dish of lentils, pasta, vermicelli and rice topped with tomato sauce and fried onions - in three varieties: "mild", "hot", or "mad". There are also salads, soups, freshly pressed juices and traditional desserts including muhallabiyeh milk pudding and mishmishiya, an apricot puree. The only notable difference between here and Egypt is likely to be the price - a meal for two costs around £15 (Dh86).
