The specialist tour operator Walks Worldwide is offering a challenging eight-day walking tour of the Fagaras Alps in Transylvania. The trip, which neatly coincides with the centenary of the death of Bram Stoker, takes in "Castle Dracula" at Bran and the city of Brasov, north of Bucharest, as well as two-days trekking through Piatra Craiului National Park, home to wolf, bear and lynx, and one of Europe's most beautiful ridge walks, before ascent of Moldoveanu, the highest peak in Romania at 2,544 metres. A cool way to cruise the ocean waves

Forget camping out, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival, which takes place at the Empire polo Club in Indio, California, has launched a festival on the waves. The SS Coachella will set sail out of Fort Lauderdale for Nassau in the Bahamas for a three-night cruise on December 16. On-board entertainment will be provided by the likes of Yeasayer, Pulp, the Rapture and Simian Mobile Disco. Tickets cost from US$500 (Dh1,836) per person, based on four people sharing an inside stateroom.

Emirates to resume regular Tripoli service

Emirates has announced that it will recommence its four-times weekly service to the Libyan capital on October 29. "We have been closely monitoring the situation in Libya and feel that the time is right to relaunch our services, which will help to support business, international trade and passenger travel to and from Tripoli, as well as strengthening the country's overall infrastructure," Jean Luc Grillet, the senior vice president commercial operations for Africa at Emirates, said in a press release announcing the new flight schedule. A return flight from Dubai to Tripoli costs from Dh3,820, including taxes.
