New rustic camping spot on Dubai's Jebel Ali beach

Banan Beach features colourful tents, BBQs for guests' use and more

There are 47 camping tents at Banan Beach, and they cost from Dh350 per night and sleep two people.

While there are tents, you can also book a chalet, which has its own private terrace, sleeps six people and costs from Dh1,000 a night. Supplied

The new tented camp has a laid back vibe.

There's a self-cooking barbecue area, and while the restaurant is currently under renovation, there will be one there soon.

Guests can self cater at Banan Beach, so pack a cool box.

There are 12 watersports on offer, and they're run by Watercooled: think kayaking, wakeboarding, stand up paddle, windsurfing, tow rides and more. You"ll have to pay separately for these. Supplied

While there are plenty of glittering five-star hotels in Dubai, a new spot in Jebel Ali is distinct due to its rustic and laid back vibe, and the fact it has guests sleeping in tents.

Banan Beach sits right on the water near the base of the Palm Jebel Ali, near the Jebel Ali Golf Resort and the Jebel Ali Kart Track.

You can visit the spot for the day, with beach access costing Dh100, or you can stay overnight, with tents sleeping two costing from Dh350 a night, and chalets that sleep six costing from Dh1,000.

The day access also includes use of the beach loungers and self-catering BBQ facilities.

There are 12 watersports on offer (with a separate charge), 47 tents and 5 chalets.

Also, every Wednesday they hold oceanfront yoga classes at 8pm (arrive early to register and call 050 501 6413 to book). The classes cost Dh80, and that includes the chance to sit around the bonfire with a cup of tea post-class.
