Emirates is set to resume flights to three more cities, meaning the Dubai airline will soon have a restarted network of 74 destinations. Birmingham, UK, Cebu, in the Philippines, and Houston, US, will join the airline's list of resumed routes in the coming weeks. Flights between Dubai and Birmingham, a city in England's West Midlands, will operate four times a week, with the first taking off on Tuesday, September 1. Flights between Dubai and Cebu, a province in the Central Visayas region, will operate twice a week from Thursday, August 20. Both routes will use Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Emirates' flights between Dubai and Houston, in Texas, will operate three times a week from Sunday, August 23, on Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. Following the resumption of flights to Houston, the airline will serve six cities in the US from August, including New York, Washington DC, Chicago and Los Angeles, with flights launching to Boston from Saturday, August 15. As of this month, Emirates is servicing more than 50 per cent of its pre-pandemic passenger network. Those flying to Dubai from any destination must have a Covid-19 PCR test before travelling. This applies to UAE citizens, residents and tourists. It also applies to transit passengers who do not plan to leave the airport. Emirates flights are operating with enhanced hygiene and safety rules, including compulsory face masks. Emirates is offering free cover for Covid-19-related costs to all travellers on any flight departing between now and October 31. Valid for 31 days from the first sector of each journey, it covers travellers for medical costs, quarantine expenses and repatriation costs if they have the virus diagnosed when travelling. The cover does not extend to Covid-19 tests and all travellers flying to the UAE must be tested for the virus before flying, from approved clinics where available. Some visitors will undergo secondary tests for the virus at Dubai International Airport.
