Amsterdam's most expensive place to stay: one night from Dh106,000

The nine-bedroom residential palace comes with a butler, housekeeper, nanny, dog-walker and personal spa therapist

The private nine-bedroom palace within the renowned five-star hotel opened to guests on September 1. 

The Mayor's Residence has its own entrance to guarantee privacy.

The Mayor’s Residence was built during the Dutch Golden Age in 1665 for Hendrik Hooft, one of Amsterdam’s most influential mayors.

Nightly rates for The Mayor’s Residence sleeping 15 people start from €24,450 (Dh106,000).

The 15-bedroom suite is housed in a 17th century building.

The newest hotel suite to open in Amsterdam is also the city's most expensive place to stay, with overnight reservations costing from Dh106,000 per night.

Part of Hilton's Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, the recently converted Mayor's Residence is a nine-bedroom dwelling in a former 17th century palace.

The residence overlooks the Herengracht canal, part of the canal ring area listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, and comes with a troupe of staff, including a housekeeper, butler and private chef.

Originally built in 1665 for Hendrik Hooft, one of Amsterdam's most influential mayors, the residence was first decorated by his wife, Maria, and then by the prominent De Wildt family in 1780. The palace retains many of its original Rococo features.

Bike rides and dog walks

Guests checking in at the residence have their own private entrance right beside the canal, meaning exclusivity is guaranteed. To ensure guests want for nothing, there's also an in-house doctor, hairdresser, nanny and dog-walker – yes, the suite also accepts four-legged guests.

Anyone staying in the residence can enjoy exclusive access to the hotel's Guerlain spa along with unlimited treatments and a dedicated spa therapist, as well as private access to the indoor pool, sauna and steam room.

Travellers who want to venture out of the city's most expensive residence can opt to do so in a very traditional manner – by taking one of the suite's complimentary bicycles out for a spin along some of the city's 100 kilometres of canals. But if that seems like too much effort, a private car tour to the surrounding countryside is also included in the overnight rate.

The level of luxury is elevated by a personal shopping experience that takes in some of Amsterdam's most stylish streets and shops and a turndown service that comes with a personalised fragrance, tailored carefully to each guest.

Dh4,000 daily dining credit

The residence also comes with a €1,000 (Dh4,350) daily credit that guests can use to order food and drinks to the residence, or use when dining in the hotel's restaurants and bars, which include Spectrum, a two Michelin-starred restaurant headed by chef Sidney Schutte.

Up to 15 guests and a dog can stay at the Mayor's Residence. This "historic treasure on one of the city's most exclusive canal banks" also has a private garden that is bathed in tulips and Residence guests have free access to the pretty courtyard.
