8 new hotel openings in Europe to get excited for

Here's a round-up of the new hotels that have opened in Paris, London, and Switzerland

citizenM Paris Gare de Lyon in Paris: Aimed at prosperous Millenials and budget business travellers, there is a 24-hour café-bar and attractive lounge areas; the compact bedrooms are comfortable and modern, with rain showers, unlimited free movies and Wi-Fi, smart TVs and a custom “MoonPad” that controls room lighting. Hotel National des Arts and Metiers in Paris: a 70-room design feast sitting behind a Haussmannian facade. The hotel takes its name from the engineering and manufacturing institute across the road, and the concrete walls and timber chevron flooring – spell industrial chic, softened as they are by textured headboards and curtains. The Hoxton, Paris: offering 172 rooms over five floors in an elegant 18th century residence in the 2nd arrondissement, not far from the Louvre Museum and Pompidou Centre. The hotel’s bedrooms, which all have cornicing, chevron wooden floors and slick bathrooms, are classed as “shoebox”, “cosy”, “roomy” or “biggy” and cost from €104 (Dh455) per night, including taxes. LIDO at The Curtain hotel in London, UK: one-off property in a converted warehouse, created by New York hotelier Michael Achenbaum, this one-off hotel on Curtain Road has 120 rooms, three restaurants, a live music venue, member’s club and a Moroccan-inspired rooftop pool and lounge. Moxy London Excel: A ‘budget chic’ brand owned by Marriott, Moxy has opened a new property at London’s Royal Docks, close to London City Airport, the Abu Dhabi-owned London ExCel International Exhibition Centre and the Emirates Air Line cable car to the O2 Arena. Rooms cost from £66 (Dh316) per night including taxes. Not far away, the Moxy London Stratford is also taking bookings from its opening date of October 25. This hotel is located opposite the Westfield Shopping Centre and close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Rooms here cost from £61 (Dh292) per night including taxes. A bedroom at the Chandolin Boutique Hotel in Switzerland: In one of Europe’s highest villages, 2,000m above sea level, the four-star hotel, a member of Design Hotels, is located in the village of Chandolin in the French-speaking Valais region. The area has year-round appeal with hiking, mountain biking and skiing trails. The hotel is built in traditional style on the outside, with slick interiors designed by Extreme Artdesign Studio; there is also a luxurious spa and high-end restaurant serving seasonal meals. There are a total of 25 rooms and four apartments. The closest airport is Geneva; rooms cost from €136 (Dh600) per night, including taxes. Design Hotels

The new Motel One in Zurich, Switzerland: Also on the western site of the city centre, but closer to the old town, is the Hotel Motel One Zurich, part of the Motel One chain which has hotels in the UK, Germany, Brussels, the Netherlands and Austria, and an existing property in Basel.
