A year ago this month, Etihad took delivery of its newest aircraft – a striking sky blue Boeing 787-9. The brand new Dreamliner was delivered to the national airline of the UAE sporting the familiar colours of Manchester City Football Club, with whom Etihad has partnered for more than 12 years. Its inaugural passenger flight departed Abu Dhabi on October 22 , 2019, flying, rather aptly, to Manchester in England, where the football team played at the Etihad Stadium. Since then, Etihad has kept the jet busy, spreading its wings to 48 destinations around the world including Australia, China, the Philippines, India and Saudi Arabia. The Manchester City aircraft, which is registered as A6-BND has also safely carried 58,000 passengers around the world during its first year of service. Having completed 444 flights, the Dreamliner has travelled more than 2,095,697 kilometres. “Manchester City FC has been our partner for 12 years and with fans all around the world, we’re very proud that one of our Boeing 787 Dreamliners boasts such a stunning themed livery, " said Yasser Al Yousuf, vice president of commercial partnerships at Etihad Airways. "We’ve welcomed some of Manchester City’s star players such as Aymeric Laporte on board, as well as more than 58,000 guests." The special liveried jet first operated from Abu Dhabi to Manchester, but in its first year of service the aircraft has spread its wings much further.
