Timeframe: Racegoers, always in good form

The horse racing season has kicked off again in the UAE, which means there are sure to thousands of racegoers across the region converging on the Jebel Ali Racecourse for the season-opener.

In this photograph taken back in 1997, the horse enthusiast at Meydan has found a spot out of the rain where he can get the lowdown on the thoroughbreds worth watching out for.

Friday, November 3, marks the start of the horse racing season in the UAE, which means there are sure to thousands of racegoers across the region converging on the Jebel Ali Racecourse for the season-opener.

Unfortunately for the man pictured here, the races he was researching so thoroughly that day 10 years ago were postponed due to the rain. Today, this seems unlikely, and with 62 race dates on the UAE calendar over the next five months, across five racecourses, we’re sure it is going to be another great season ahead.
