Taylor Swift has been named as the world’s highest-paid celebrity, reportedly earning $185m (Dh679m) over the past year.

The annual Forbes Celebrity 100 list saw make-up mogul Kylie Jenner named in second place, while her brother-in-law, rapper and designer Kanye West, came in third place.

In 2018, Swift released her sixth studio album Reputation, which was followed by a sold-out world tour, helping her to secure the top spot. The 29-year-old also topped the list in 2016, following her 1989 world tour.

At 21, Kylie Jenner was named as the world's youngest self-made billionaire by Forbes earlier this year thanks to her booming make-up empire, which saw her earn $170m before tax over the past year.

Kanye West earned an estimated $150m, driven mostly by his successful Yeezy sneaker line. His wife, Kim Kardashian, who is the half-sister of Jenner, ranked in 26th place on this annual list.

Footballers Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar also made it into the top 10, alongside British singer Ed Sheeran and rockband The Eagles, who also embarked on a new world tour in 2018.  Boxer Floyd Mayweather took the top spot in last year's list, but failed to make this year's top 10.

The list is compiled by estimating the pre-tax earnings from June 2018 to June 2019. Forbes then uses data from the likes of movie database IMDb, Nielsen and touring trade publication pollstar, to deduct fees for managers. The publication also works closely with industry experts and many of the stars themselves.

The world’s 100 highest paid celebrities earned $6.3bn before tax over the past 12 months, according to the list.
