After becoming stuck in a packet of crisps, a baby hedgehog was rescued after a three -and-a-half hour operation involving six people. The creature was spotted by a shopkeeper in the English seaside town of Weston-super-Mare, when the man heard rustling. Because the hedgehog was in a railed-off area, workmen had to cut through the bars to enable a team from Prickles Hedgehog Rescue to reach it. A spokesman for Prickles said the animal may have been looking for warmth but was drawn to the smell of crisps. Lance Armstrong effigy set for UK bonfire A nine-metre effigy of the disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong wearing a "Jim Fixed It For Me" badge is to go up in flames. In Edenbridge, a small town in the English county of Kent, residents annually burn a celebrity effigy on Bonfire Night, which marks a failed attempt to destroy the English Parliament, using gunpowder, in 1605. After rejecting the UK's chancellor of the exchequer, George Osborne, as "a bit boring", the village's Bonfire Society chose Armstrong, who was stripped of his Tour De France titles for doping. The effigy's badge will resemble those given away in a BBC TV show that made children's dreams come true. It was hosted by the late Jimmy Savile, who has now been unmasked as a child abuser. Animal rights activists have called for a memorial to commemorate the deaths of thousands of fish in a road accident. Dina Kourda, of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta), said the memorial should honour around 725kg of saltwater bass who perished when a lorry taking them to market crashed in California's Orange County last month. The sign would read: "In memory of hundreds of fish who suffered and died at this spot". Opponents of the memorial say the fish were on their way to be filleted and sold in supermarkets. Wife sued over baby A Chinese man has allegedly sued his wife for giving birth to an ugly baby. Jian Feng reportedly won Dh445,000 compensation and was granted a divorce after taking his wife to court. Accounts of the case say that Feng was "repulsed" and "horrified" by the ugliness of his newborn daughter and even suspected his wife of having an affair because he could not believe the child was his. It later emerged that the woman had spent Dh35,000 on plastic surgery to improve her looks before meeting Feng. Trying to budget for festivals such as Christmas can cause actual physical pain, scientists have discovered. A study by the University of Chicago says that adding up everything from the cost of presents to food and decorations induces suffering in around half the population. Calling it "maths anxiety", the study says panicking about adding things up activates parts of the brain associated with physical pain.
