The Galleria on Al Maryah Island is inviting children to come over for some free driving classes. They will be briefed on road safety and given a lesson on road signals and signs. Following this, they will put the theory they've learnt to the test, with a drive outside on the waterfront promenade. Each child will be given a driving certificate from The Galleria.
Young Emirati professional race-car drivers, sisters Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi, will also be on hand on November 16, to give their top track trips and then put their skills into action on the racing track.
"Such initiatives help young and aspiring drivers understand the importance of following traffic rules in a fun way. We hope to act as role models for the younger generation of drivers, both current and those aspiring to take up driving in the future,” the Al Qubaisi sisters said.
There will also be a dedicated arts and crafts area featuring clay car moulding, mug drawing and painting, and car-themed colouring.
The driving initiative will take place on Thursday, November 16, until Saturday, November 18, and is aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 11. The racing track will be open from 3pm to 9pm, and registration is located on Level 1 of The Galleria and with a pedal car driving track on the outside waterfront promenade.
