Infiniti has launched a new version of its powerhouse QX80 in the Middle East, the Black Edition. As you’d expect, it has added equipment and a few extra stylings to lift it from the standard model (which, even in its standard format, is already the manufacturer’s flagship vehicle). Key additions cited by Infiniti include the manufacturer's new-generation infotainment system, featuring two touchscreens, along with 17 Bose speakers giving a surround-sound listening experience inside the cabin (and, no doubt, outside if you've got the windows down). The new arrival features dark chrome and black accents around the front grille and fascia, side fender vents, door mirror caps and rear tailgate strip. It has also been given extra height with the addition of 22-inch forged alloy wheels. Three interior trim colours are also available, along with a wood-accent trim. And, as with the standard model, you can still ferry up to eight people around in the various seats adorning its expansive interior. It’s big, then, but the Black Edition is powered by a 5.6-litre V8 engine, so getting a bit of speed up on hard or soft terrain won’t be an issue. All these add-ons come with a purpose. though, as the manufacturer says it is a vehicle made with the Gulf in mind. “The Black Edition grade has been designed keeping in mind the unique tastes and preferences of our customers in the region,” Infiniti’s Nasif Siddiqi says, to underline the point. The car is available in the UAE now, priced at Dh355,000.
