NEW DELHI // Traffic police in India's capital city have recruited Facebook in the fight against dangerous driving. Two months ago, the police created a page on the social networking site allowing residents to post pictures of drivers violating traffic laws. As of this week, more than 23,000 people had become fans of the page and posted almost 300 phototgraphs and dozens of videos. Using the pictures, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued 665 tickets, using the licence plate numbers shown in the photos to track vehicle owners, the city's joint commissioner of traffic, Satyendra Garg, told The New York Times. "Traffic police can't be present everywhere, but rules are always being broken," he said. "If people want to report it, we welcome it. A violation is a violation." The police also have a link from the page to a Twitter site that gives updates on traffic situations around the city.
