There’s a new Lexus on UAE soil, and it’s a 2020 version of the RX, the brand’s road-crushing luxury crossover. The new version features a range of upgrades in both technology and styling, but the main change is the model now has both petrol and hybrid electric options. It looks a little sleeker than previous versions, but this latest incarnation still retains a similar appearance. Inside, there’s a new seating configuration though, with the addition of a third row, allowing for seven passengers. The vehicle is powered by a 296hp, 3.5-litre V6 in the RX350 and a 3.5-litre V6 paired with two electric motors making a combined 308hp in the RX450h hybrid. And there are upgraded versions of most of these with names like Sport, Prestige and Limited. And, of course, you still get the latest version of Lexus’s safety system, featuring a variety of accident prevention measures. When it comes to sustainable motoring, Lexus has form in this area – it introduced the world’s first luxury self-charging RX hybrid electric vehicle, referred to as an HEV, more than a decade ago. The Japanese brand has sold over a million of this type of car worldwide since the first generation of the RX400h appeared on the market. The 2020 RX starts from Dh230,000 and is now in Lexus showrooms across the UAE.
