ILLINOIS // The house that Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck) called home in the classic 1980s rites-of-passage movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, has been put up for sale for $2.3 million (Dh 8.44m). The steel and glass modern structure lies in secluded woodlands in Highland Park, Illinois. It is best known for staging the film's most heart-stopping scene when Cameron and Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) attempt to wind back the odometer of a classic Ferrari 250 GT California by running the engine at high-speed in reverse. Inevitably, calamity prevailed and the car was last seen careering out of one of the property's large picture windows and down a hillside.
UAE // Knight Rider returns to our TV screens this week when Show Series begins broadcasting the drama on June 11. The series, a remake of the original programme featuring David Hasselhoff, stars Justin Bruening as a latter-day Michael Knight and a Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang as the new hi-tech Knight Industries Three Thousand (KITT) car. The original 1980s show featured a Pontiac Trans Am as Michael Knight's trusty sidekick. However, Knight Rider fans will have to enjoy the revival show while it lasts, as NBC, the original commissioning network in the US, has decided not to renew the series for a second season.
INDIANA // The founder of Papa John's pizza chain has begun a search of the United States to find the car he was forced to sell when he set up his first restaurant. In 1984, "Papa" John Schnatter owned a 1972 Z28 Chevrolet Camaro but sold the car for $1,600 (Dh 5,850) to fund his first food outlet, which operated out of a converted broom cupboard in his father's tavern in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Now, 25 years after that forced sale, Schnatter presides over a chain of more than 3,000 pizza restaurants worldwide, including seven in the UAE, and is offering a $25,000 (Dh 91,800) reward to the person who can reunite him with his long-lost Camaro.
