LONDON // A rare 1937 Bugatti Type 57S sports car will be auctioned by Bonhams in London next month. The car was built in 1937 for Earl Howe, a keen amateur racer, and changed hands several times in the 1940s and 1950s before being bought by Dr Harold Carr in 1955. Dr Carr is believed to have driven the 57S regularly before garaging it in the early 1960s. The car has not been used since then and has an odometer reading of just 26,284 miles. The Bugatti was discovered by Dr Carr's family in an outbuilding at his house after his death in 2007.

James Knight, Bonhams' head of international motoring, describes the car as "one of the last great barn discoveries." It will be auctioned on Feb 9.
