M is all about: Cancer awareness

In the pink

Sunglasses are a must in the UAE, and one pair just isn't enough - a girl needs a few options to switch around depending on her mood. We save this hot pink pair for when our face (and spirit) needs a lift. The style is Jackie O meets Andy Warhol and will give your look an Anna Dello Russo-worthy flair. The sunglasses come as part of S*uce's annual "Sp*rkle for a Good Cause" campaign along with a hair ribbon and an embroidered pouch, perfect for storing your jewellery. The proceeds go to the Friends of Cancer Patients charity.

Timeless pearls and ribbons

When it comes to accessorising we believe that less is more, especially when you want a piece that lasts a while. A pearl bracelet will definitely withstand the test of time - and fashion trend fluctuations. The best part about this one is that 100 per cent of the proceeds are donated to the Friends of Cancer Patients charity, a UAE-based group that provides financial and emotional support to cancer patients and their families.

Bling it on

For a glamorous exclamation point, you don't have to stick to glittery shoes and metallic make-up. Your phone can also speak volumes. This limited edition Swarovski crystal-embedded phone cover from Hermitage just screams attention. "Pink is a universal colour of love and it is also the colour of breast cancer awareness," says Irina Tropynina, creative designer at Hermitage. "Whether you're 'racing for the cure' or simply on the go, pink, bling and crystal make just about everything better and add a positive happy outlook to any situation." We couldn't agree more.

Pony up

Ralph Lauren T-shirts are a wardrobe classic. Whether they're with a collar (please refrain from popping) or a round or a V-neck, they are a staple in casual wear. The "Pink Pony" range is a great addition to your collectionand provides a fashionable means to donate to cancer care and prevention. The "Pink Pony" fund is a part of the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation and donates 10 per cent of sales to early diagnosis, research and treatment of cancer.

Time won't wait

Knowing that we girls like to keep chunky watches to a minimum, we are delighted to see that GUESS's new edition is light and dainty with pretty pink stones. We are also wearing this "Sparkling Pink" watch with pride as throughout the month, for every watch sold a portion of the proceeds will indirectly pay for a mammogram for a woman who cannot afford one. Glamorous wrist candy for charity? What a great combination.

Golfing for good

For those who have mastered the fine art of golfing, there's a new approach to giving back this month. The Abu Dhabi Golf Club is hosting a Pink Lady Golf Day on October 23 to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The charity is more than 100 years old and supports doctors and scientists treating and trying to prevent the disease. The event starts at 12.30pm and all participants are required to wear pink. This year's competition will follow a Royal Wedding theme complete with a wedding cake to be cut by the challenge winners.

Entry fee is Dh150 for members and Dh395 for guests, Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Sas Al Nakhl, 02 558 8990

Heavenly handbags

We can never have enough handbags and now here's the perfect excuse to indulge in more. The "Divine Desserts and Heavenly Handbags" charity auction is back for the second year and promises to be bigger and better. Held at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr on October 11, the event will begin with a delicious selection of desserts before a vast array of gorgeous handbags will go under the hammer in the name of charity. On offer are pieces from Gucci, Chanel, Coach, Louis Vuitton and Burberry. Bidding starts at Dh500, so this might be the ideal opportunity to bag yourself a Birkin without the high price tag. Also up for grabs are a great selection of designer shoes, original artworks and couture clothing, plus raffle items such as yoga classes and beauty treatments.

"Divine Desserts and Heavenly Handbags" is an all-women event. Tickets are Dh50 and available by emailing pabdalla5@gmail.com or mark-and-lisa@hotmail.com
