The names of Dubai’s beaches are often fairly self-explanatory. You’ve got Palace Beach, Sunset Beach and even Secret Beach, and one particular stretch of sand in Jumeirah isn’t called Kite Beach for nothing. Whenever surf height and wind gusts peak, you’re sure to find plenty of kitesurfers in the sea off this particular part of the Dubai shoreline. On Monday, June 22, wave heights peaked at 1.7 metres, according to surf report site Magic Seaweed (the day before, the peak was 0.3 metres.) <em>The National</em>'s Chris Whiteoak went down to capture surfers riding the waves, their brightly coloured kites billowing in front of Burj Khalifa.
