It was rumoured yesterday that Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik were to become parents, and now the news has been confirmed by the supermodel's mother. Yolanda Hadid, a Dutch model and mother to Gigi, Bella and Anwar, revealed that her 25-year-old daughter is due to give birth in the autumn. Speaking to Dutch broadcaster RTL, Yolanda said the family were shocked that "our little secret has been leaked to the press", but said she was "thrilled" with the news. "I can't wait to become a grandmother," Yolanda, 56, said, as she confirmed Gigi was due to give birth in September. "It is quite special, since I lost my own mother so recently. That is the beauty of life: one soul is leaving us and another is coming. We feel very blessed." Yolanda’s mother, Ans van den Herik, died last year aged 78. It will be the first grandchild for Yolanda, as well as the first child for Gigi and Malik, 27. Several reports on Wednesday stated that the American-Palestinian model and the British-Pakistani singer were expecting a baby. The model is yet to directly confirm the news, though her 25th birthday party, held earlier this week, is rumoured to have doubled up as a gender reveal party. Eagle-eyed fans on social media have speculated that the blue and pink ribbons attached to Gigi's birthday balloons could signify the popular celebration, used to announce if an unborn baby is a boy or a girl. Gigi and Malik have been in an on/off relationship since 2015, but broke up for a period in 2018. It was confirmed they were back together in December 2019. The model has spoken about wanting to start a family in the past. In February, she told i-D magazine: "As I get older ... well one day, I'll start a family and I don't know if I will always be modelling. "The people I work with make me so happy, I’m so lucky to be around them. But who knows? Maybe I’ll take up full time cooking."
