The second Dubai Home Festival is about to kick off. The citywide celebration revolving around home furniture and appliances will begin on Thursday with fireworks over Festival Bay at Dubai Festival City Mall. The display will start at 9pm and last for three minutes. Those aiming to make a night of it could start with a meal at one of the restaurants located at the waterfront, such as Eataly, Al-Fanar, Texas Roadhouse or The Cheesecake Factory. The Dubai Home Festival will run from Thursday, September 24 to Saturday, October 10, giving UAE residents the chance to pick up furniture and appliances at discounted prices and win big prizes (including rent-free stays in luxury apartments). This year, some of the biggest home stores in the UAE will have discounts of up to 75 per cent, including Danube Home, Al Salem Carpet Trading, United Furniture, Pottery Barn, Pan Emirates, The One and West Elm. Dragon Mart, Ibn Battuta Mall and Nahkeel Mall will have a Spend & Win promotion with three years rent-free in a one-bedroom apartment on Palm Jumeirah's Golden Mile up for grabs. The promotion will be open to all shoppers who spend Dh250 during the festival. Shoppers who spend Dh500 at any home store in Dubai Festival City will also stand to win a one-year rent-free stay in a two-bedroom apartment at Marsa Plaza Dubai Festival City, plus a Dh10,000 Ikea voucher to decorate the flat. Brands such as Home Centre and Ikea will also be giving customers the chance to win makeovers if they spend Dh250 in store. With such offers available, as well as home-improvement talks and workshops, now would be a good time to spruce up your home if that's been on your must-do list for a while.
