New environmently friendly fireplaces available

Ecosmart Fire has added to its range of contemporary, well-designed fireplaces that run on bioethanol.

Ecosmart Fire has added to its range of environmentally friendly fireplaces. The company's products run on bioethanol, an absolute alcohol created from the fermentation of sugars sourced from agricultural and forestry products. Burning ethanol produces a healthy smoke-, odour- and soot-free flame and emits only water, steam and negligible amounts of carbon dioxide as a by-product.

Ecosmart creations are contemporary and well designed so they are used as much for their decorative qualities as for their fire-producing capabilities.

The company produces models for both the interior and exterior. Among its most recent launches is the portable Fire Bulb, a flame encircled by an organic, sculptural steel wire frame.

Also new is the Fire Dish, a stylish take on the traditional campfire. Made of durable, all-weather steel with an authentic rust finish, the Fire Dish was specifically designed to be used on balconies, patios, courtyards and in pool areas.

Meanwhile, the Fire Ghost is an elegant, understated fireplace fashioned from toughened glass and stainless steel that is particularly suited to smaller spaces. But our favourite of the new Ecosmart products is Stix, designed by the Barcelona-based Hiroshi Tsunoda. Consisting of stainless steel "sticks" of varying sizes, this is a contemporary take on a log fire.
