Turkish restaurant Babaji to open first international eatery in Dubai

Those with a taste for Turkish food will be keen to know that the first Babaji venue outside of London is set to open in Dubai within weeks.

After taking the British capital by storm, this Turkish ‘Pide’ restaurant (pronounced pea-dhay) will offer its own interpretation of one of the Middle East’s timeless cuisines — flatbreads, topped with everything from chargrilled courgettes to prawns or walnuts.

Pide originates from Turkey and involves baking on flat bread in a wood fired oven before being decorated with a range of toppings.

The menu is complemented be classic mezze items ranging from tabbouleh salad, cheese and spinach borek and lamb shish served with flatbread and red onion to a master grill section including items from the chargrilled baby chicken to chargrilled whole seabream.

Located at City Walk, Babaji caters to all ages and nationalities and will also serve traditional Turkish tea. There will be a dedicated baklava counter too, that will serve a variety of freshly baked treats.

Conceived by restaurateur Alan Yau, Babaji is affectionately referred to as Soho’s Turkish pizza joint among foodies, and will serve from morning until late evening once open.
