The sweet smells of Syrian delicacies wafted across Tishreen Park over the weekend as food vendors doled out homemade food to crowds of Damascus foodies.

The newly-opened Food Street event is part of a month-long festival in the Syrian capital entitled "al-Sham gathers us".

The event is being held by the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, alongside the country's Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Ministry, and the Damascus Governorate.

It's the largest gathering of different Syrian restaurants in one place.

A number of social, art, sports and other events will be held for the next month as part of the festival in Damascus, alongside Food Street.
