2020 has been something of a bumpy year for Turkish butcher and restaurateur Nusret Gokce, popularly known a Salt Bae. The year started with a dispute at the Florida branch of Nusr-Et over a 24K gold steak, and last month Gokce's first branch in Boston was ordered to close after being hit with health and fire violation noticed. However, the flamboyant chef seems to be taking it all in his stride. He has announced the launch of the another branch of Nusr-Et, which is to open on Friday, October 16. The latest opening is located at the Park Hyatt Istanbul – Macka Palas, a five-star property located in the fashionable Nisantasi residential and shopping district. Gokce shared the news on social media calling it one of his biggest dreams. “I had one dream which was to have my own restaurant at my own hotel. Thank God one of my biggest dreams is coming true on Friday. See you at Nusr-Et Macka Palace,” the chef wrote on social media. Gokce purchased the luxury property in March 2019 for a reported $80 million. The exact menu has not been released, but one can probably expect the Nusr-Et classics – including the oft-Instagrammed golden steak. The chef launched his first Nusr-Et steakhouse in Istanbul in 2010. He now has over 15 branches around the world, including those in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
