New ‘His and Hers’ menu at the Rib Room in Jumeirah’s Zabeel Saray



A romantic dining concept has been rolled out by the Rib Room steakhouse in Jumeirah’s Zabeel Saray hotel on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah this month. We sampled some highlights of the ‘His and Hers’ menu as well as some new seasonal a la carte dishes available this September.

The venue:

Located at on the crescent of Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, the hotel is a stunning tribute to art and architecture of the Ottoman Empire. The Rib Room is the sister venue of the original restaurant located in Dubai’s Emirates Towers.

The appetisers:

This month’s new menu has a winning duck tasting starter comprising of pan seared breast and grilled liver, confit of leg terrine. My dining companion opted for the other option of Loch Fyne king scallops, elegantly served in the shell with a fragrant chervil voluté. The seafood is served with a cauliflower, citrus brulee and baby fennel.

The mains:

It’s no surprise that prime cuts of beef are what the Rib Room does especially well. I plumped for a John Stone dry-aged, grass fed ribeye which was juicy and packed with flavour. My companion chose the new set menu option of a Grand Daddy steak; savouring every buttery mouthful of his well-seasoned Grade 7 Wagyu tenderloin. The sharing menu also offers the option of pan roasted black cod for those desiring a meat-free meal. Sides available for the His and Hers menu include truffle celeriac puree, pomme ecrassee, wilted spinach and tomato fondue.

The cheeses:

The standout new desert on the His and Hers menu is a shared ‘chocolat de luxe’ comprising a salty caramel chocolate tart, chocolate ganache and vanilla sorbet. For those wanting to conclude their meal with another new delight – the personal cheese trolley is a must. A vast selection of old British varieties will be rolled to your table in grand fashion. We loved the Lincolnshire Poacher, Cornish Yorg and Collston Bassett Blue. Sharp, creamy and tangy, the cheeses were served with a selection of freshly-baked biscuits and breads plus a side of sweet chutney.
