Downtown Dubai is set to welcome a new Japanese restaurant with the launch of Mami Umami. Located in Renaissance Downtown Dubai, the new venue, which will open on Tuesday, August 18, will replace the space previously occupied by Morimoto. Bringing a twist to traditional Japanese food, Mami Umami will blend Asian flavours with a taste of Latin America. Created by chef Carlos Rodriguez, the menu is divided into nine categories – to be enjoyed in any order – which have been designed to unlock the umami (fifth) taste. The dishes will mix hot, cold, sweet and savoury, with menu items set to include nippy nippon (cold), hotto mami (hot), lo crudo (raw) and tempura y frita (fried) to carbon de japon (grilled), La Mami Umami (signature), sushi/sashimi, maki, and sweet wasabi. The restaurant is on the hotel’s 23rd floor, and has a terrace with views across Downtown Dubai for the cooler months. The restaurant will be open daily from 6pm to 1am.
