Last week, we were privileged enough to dine at Hakkasan in the Emirates Palace, to celebrate the Chinese restaurant's second year operating in the capital. HOLY YUM DIM SUM! That restaurant has always been a favourite: consistent in its impeccable service, a varied menu that is always updated and always absolutely delicious, a unique setting that boasts a vibe both trendy and classy at the same time - it's easily one of my favourite restaurants in the capital. We sat in the "Ling Ling" area. For those unfamiliar with such interesting Chinese jargon, it apparently means "the lounge" and it is separate from both the formal dining area and the unique bar. We also got to tour the place and see the private dining rooms (the largest one, which seats some 16 individuals, has it's own light and music settings, and it's OWN BATHROOM!) as well as the outdoor seating area, which is quite simply breathtaking. If you're a fan of dim sums, whether in their fried, steamed, grilled or baked variety, or heck, if you're a fan of good food in general, make it a point to dine at Hakkasan, and soon. Their Yum cha weekend lunch (or brunch) menu, served on Fridays and Saturdays, is Dh350 including unlimited beverages or Dh250 including unlimited tea and mocktails and is a perfect way to sample their dishes, and especially that tasty dim sum they have on offer. And can't sign off without pointing out my favourite dish below - the jasmine beef! Best starter ever.
