On Wednesday, in the column of Arts & Life, we ran a piece that I'd written lamenting the fact that although I loved my new flat in the marina, I needed a new favourite falafel haunt, as my old Bur Dubai faithful was now that bit too far away. I asked readers to email me with their suggestions and was thrilled to get a response, so I thought I'd share their recommendations here. Nausheen Noor, who writes the blog , was quick to suggest that I try the falafel at the Palestinian stand in Dubai's Global Village, saying: "The falafel are light and crispy, they mash it into the bread and top it with tomatoes, tahini, and spicy sauce". Under a blog post titled: "Around the world in 80 minutes: Top 10 things to eat at Global Village", Noor praises this falafel further: "Falafel can very often be dense and heavy, but not at this stand. These falafels are wonderfully light and flavourful and seasoned with just the right amount of tahini and hot sauce". The next message that I received was from Annina Mattsson, who told me that: "The best falafel in town, according to the many tests carried out by my Palestinian husband and his many friends, can be found at the Jordanian-owned Foul Wa Hummus in Al Barsha on the same street as Golden Tulip." She also added that they make "by far, the best hummus in town" and that they offer a delivery service. Mohamad Al-Dah also wrote in, saying that: "As an Emarati, I am of the opinion that the best falafel restaurants firmly reside in Deira". He wished me bon appetit and urged me to try the following restaurants: "Al Dimyati which follows the Palestinian school of falafel (http://wikimapia.org/#lat=25.269245&lon=55.355081&z=18&l=0&m=s&v=9) and Al Amoor, which follows the Alexandrian school of falafel" (http://wikimapia.org/#lat=25.2816923&lon=55.3526133&z=19&l=0&m=s&v=9) And last, but certainly not least, during a food tour of Bur Dubai last week (article ), food blogger Arva Ahmed - who is an authority on the subject of ethnic eating spots in old Dubai - said that she had heard great things about the falafel from Phersian Cafeteria and would be trying it soon.
