With it being Jubilee weekend back in the UK, a number of hotels in the UAE are offering the opportunity to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's sixty years on the throne. Below is a round up of various events happening over the next week. Rhodes Mezzanine in Grosvenor House is offering a Diamond Jubilee set menu on the 5th of June, inspired by the dishes served at the Coronation in 1953. Items include: roast breast of chicken "to the Queen's taste" served with mushrooms and truffles, tomato and tarragon soup and strawberry shortbread. For reservations call: 04 317 6000. Raffles are holding a Diamond Edition brunch this Friday (1st) and they've gone for a street party theme, complete with pie and mash shop, Billingsgate fish market stall and a Brick Lane bagel shop. The rest of the food on offer is British through and through, with fish and chips, stewed eels, trifle and Wimbledon cake. If you do go, don't forget to enter the raffle; prizes include a two night stay at The Savoy with round trip tickets courtesy of Qatar Airways. For more information call: +971 4 324 8888. At the Grand Hyatt Dubai there's another Diamond Jubilee street party brunch going on: the buffet lunch is inspired by best of British dishes, the dress code is 'street party chic' and fancy dress is very much encouraged (there's a competition). They also promise plenty of bunting, activities and entertainment for children and nostalgic music. The brunch costs Dh350 per person (including soft drinks), Dh150 for children aged 4-12.
