Deliveroo appeared to be down in the UAE on Thursday, with a number of hungry users reporting problems trying to access the app. Earlier in the day, the food delivery service was showing many users a “something went wrong” message when they open the app, leaving lunchtime diners disappointed. A number of users began reporting issues with the service shortly after midday, contacting Deliveroo on social media about the problem. “Hey @Deliveroo_ae is your app down? Help me I am hungry. Please bring your App back to life,” wrote one user. Another said: “Hey @Deliveroo_ae, could be possible that the app is not working properly?” The National staff in Dubai were unable to open the food delivery platform's app, however, staff members in Abu Dhabi did not experience the same problem. It is not clear whether the outage was only affecting residents in the UAE, or whether it was a worldwide issue. However, the problem seemed to only affect the app, with the desktop app still able to accept orders for users across the UAE. While the app was seemingly back up and running for a number of residents by Thursday evening, Deliveroo confirmed to The National that the team was indeed facing technical difficulties with the app and that anyone still having trouble ordering is requested to share their account details with them via direct message on Instagram or to place their orders on the website instead. This story has been updated to include Deliveroo's response.
