News that Dubai's More Café was opening in Abu Dhabi last month warmed our soup-loving souls, but we've been too distracted by newer malls to visit its location in Marina Mall.
But for everything there is a season, and now that many of us are camped out at Vox Cinemas for the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, it's readily become our pit stop of choice.
Service is efficient even when busy - so efficient that we’ve been able to grab a quick meal within the half hour we have between films (and if you don’t have that much time go for take-away). Its all-day breakfast means you can have pancakes for dinner (we have borne witness to this) and high tea is served in the late afternoon, but the real star is the soup, served in a giant copper pot and big enough for at least three people (Dh39), which they let you take away if you’re solo.
One corner of the cafe is downright homey, with a long communal table and comfy leather chairs for single diners. Added bonuses: free Wi-Fi, Amber points and a More loyalty card. When the film festival’s over, they’ll have a hard time getting rid of us.
