Abu Dhabi residents craving some steaming hot xiao long bao or chilli noodles from Din Tai Fung no longer have to plan a trip to Dubai. The restaurant chain, which has more than 150 branches around the world, has just opened an outpost in Abu Dhabi. However, the new launch is not a traditional dine-in restaurant, but a delivery-only concept. According a Din Tai Fung representative, the brand has set up a satellite kitchen in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with Delivery Hero, to cater to its Abu Dhabi customers. "We have chefs, and other staff, who will now be based there to handle the day-to-day operations and make sure the quality of food is always up to our standard," the representative told The National. As of now, Din Tai Fung will deliver to the following areas in the capital: Al Maqta, Masdar City, Yas Island, and Madinat Khalifa A, B and C (excluding Shakhbout City). Residents can order via Talabat and Carriage. It will also be available through Zomato in the near future. Din Tai Fung was founded in Taipei in 1958 and opened its first international branch, in Tokyo, in 1996. In 2015, it opened its first UAE branch in Mall of Emirates in Dubai, with the venue seeing wait times of more than an hour initially. This demand led the brand to expand in the emirate, and it now has branches in The Dubai Mall, Nakheel Mall on the Palm Jumeirah and in Deira's Al Ghurair Centre. This year, Din Tai Fung also started making its food available through delivery platforms in Dubai. The chain is best known for its noodles, soups, steamed buns and dumplings, with xiao long bao being the most popular item on the menu.
