The world's oldest film festival is now in full swing, and Venice, now in its 77th year, also marks the first major red carpet event to return after coronavirus lockdowns. While the festival is a slightly muted affair overall, with people keeping their distance and wearing masks, there have still been plenty of gorgeous gowns on show. We've already seen Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton grace the red carpet, but scroll through the gallery above for a glimpse of the best looks from the weekend. On Friday, Beatrice Valli wore a go-big-or-go-home gown by Lebanese designer Georges Hobeika, while Nieves Alvarez chose ombre Alberta Ferretti and Cecilia Rodriguez opted for a silver Maria Lucia Hohan gown. Meanwhile, on Saturday, Vanessa Kirby looked striking in scarlet Valentino and Maya Hawke shimmered like a mermaid in Versace. And Italian influencer Valli chose her second Lebanese designer of the festival, Rami Kadi. The Venice Film Festival is the first major in-person film festival to be held in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Because of this, attendees have to follow strict safety measures such as mandatory face masks indoors, temperature scanners, and socially distanced screenings to reduce the risk of infection. Plus, the public is barred from the red carpet.
