After a long and varied political career that includes two terms as Vice-President of the United States, Joseph Biden Jr will soon take the reins at the White House. The Democratic nominee, who on Saturday secured enough votes in the electoral college to replace current US President Donald Trump, is, of course, no stranger to the Oval Office, having been Barack Obama's No 2 between 2009 and 2017. But the politician's career dates back far beyond that, ever since he was first elected to a county council seat in Delaware in 1970. The law graduate and public defender, 77, went on to work as a senator and also launched his first presidential campaign in the 1980s. Throughout his time in numerous offices, Biden has, naturally, refined his work wardrobe, moving from bolder prints and heavier fabrics into cleaner-cut tailoring and the occasional relaxed, open-necked shirt. When not on the campaign trail, he's also been known to dabble in leather jackets, short-sleeved shirts and his signature aviators. Here, we take a look at how the President-elect's style has evolved throughout his time in the spotlight. Scroll through the gallery above to see more images of Joe Biden through the years.
